Player Evaluations

#60
Dario De Sousa

D · Mississauga Rebels · 2027 Draft

Game grade B

A big, smooth-skating defenceman who moves well for his size. Looked comfortable retrieving pucks in his own end, using his mobility to get back quickly and transition the puck up ice. Made strong, accurate first passes to help his team break out cleanly and efficiently.

#23
Liam Kozlowski

C · Mississauga Rebels · 2027 Draft

Game grade B

Rangy winger with good size and deceptive speed, which he uses effectively in transition to push the pace and create opportunities. Competes hard at both ends of the ice, showing a willingness to get in on the forecheck and track back defensively. Does a good job finding open ice and putting himself in scoring positions. Scored a nice goal off a quick catch-and-release, getting the puck off his stick immediately without overhandling it.

#9
Mateo Georgy

RW · Mississauga Rebels · 2027 Draft

Game grade B

Had a relatively quiet game offensively before showing his quick-strike ability with an excellent finish on a 2-on-1, displaying a hard, accurate shot. Has good hands and does a nice job maintaining possession through traffic, fighting through checks and navigating tight spaces. Draws attention with the puck and shows good vision and awareness to find open teammates. Would like to see him more consistently engaged away from the puck, particularly on the backcheck, where his effort was lacking on a few occasions. Has the offensive tools to make an impact but needs to bring a more consistent effort at both ends of the ice.

#19
Adrian Bruno

C · Mississauga Rebels · 2027 Draft

Game grade B

Had a strong game using his size and reach to protect pucks and extend offensive zone possessions. Skated well with a long, fluid stride and was particularly effective along the boards, holding off defenders and buying time for plays to develop. Made his presence felt around the net and showed off some nice hands on his goal, collecting a puck in tight before making a slick move to beat the goaltender. Was difficult to separate from the puck.

#86
Max Kopec

LW · Mississauga Rebels · 2027 Draft

Game grade C

Had a solid game, showing some nice touch with the puck and soft hands in tight areas. Displayed a quick, smooth release when given opportunities to shoot. Competed hard throughout the game, finishing his checks and showing a willingness to play a physical game. Liked his overall effort and the combination of skill and compete he brought to his shifts.

#24
Willem MacNeill

RW · Mississauga Rebels · 2027 Draft

Game grade C

Used his size and strong frame effectively in this game, highlighted by a nice power move where he leaned into a defender and drove hard to the net for a scoring opportunity. Showed good awareness with the puck, identifying passing seams and moving it quickly to teammates in good positions. Made several smart, heads-up decisions and didn't appear to force plays when better options were available. Liked his ability to combine a strong physical presence with a patient, cerebral approach when handling the puck.

#88
Gavin Laughlin

RW · Mississauga Rebels · 2027 Draft

Game grade A

Brought a lot of energy and intensity to this game, consistently looking to be the first forward in on the forecheck and finishing his checks. Has a solid, stocky frame and competed hard on pucks, refusing to give up on plays and doing a nice job keeping possessions alive. Showed some deceptive skill and awareness with the puck, making crisp passes and seemingly always knowing where his teammates were. Also displayed a good shot when given the opportunity. Skated well enough, but adding another gear to his speed and quickness would really elevate his game. Liked his compete level and willingness to do the dirty work, while showing some flashes of high end offensive ability.

#14
Cade Barker

D · Toronto Nationals · 2027 Draft

Game grade C

Had a fairly steady game on the back end, competing hard and showing a willingness to make plays with the puck rather than simply getting rid of it. Looked to contribute to the transition game when opportunities presented themselves. A solid, all-around showing without anything particularly flashy standing out.

#12
Chase Blanchard

D · Toronto Nationals · 2027 Draft

Game grade C

Big, physical defenceman who played a steady, reliable game on the back end. Used his size to his advantage, finishing checks and making his presence felt physically. Did a nice job reading opportunities to pinch down the wall, keeping pucks alive in the offensive zone and extending possessions.

#9
Wyatt Seeton

D · Toronto Nationals · 2027 Draft

Game grade C

Had the puck on his stick quite a bit throughout the game and looked comfortable handling it under pressure. Showed good patience a couple times, choosing to circle back rather than force something that wasn't there, before making a clean first pass to start the breakout. Was elusive with the puck, using his skating to evade pressure and move pucks north. Liked his composure and ability to create space for himself rather than rushing decisions.

#17
Daniel Ongaro

F · Toronto Nationals · 2027 Draft

Game grade B

Smaller, speedy winger who showed some nice flashes of skill throughout the game. Used his quickness and skill to catch defenders off guard, making them miss and creating separation with the puck. Had a nice sequence where he protected the puck while driving hard to the net, drawing a penalty in the process. Was rewarded for going to the dirty areas with a goal that deflected off him in front. Brought good jump to his shifts and was dangerous when attacking defenders with speed.

#29
Nicholas Alexander

C · Toronto Nationals · 2027 Draft

Game grade C

Played a simple, effective two-way game in this one. Skated well, showing good quickness and the ability to move pucks efficiently with his quick hands. Was involved at both ends of the ice and didn't try to overcomplicate things with the puck. Nothing overly flashy, but a solid, well-rounded performance.

#77
Frederick Jiang

LW · Toronto Nationals · 2027 Draft

Game grade B

Was one of the more dangerous forwards in this game, using his explosive jump and skating to catch defenders flat-footed and blow by them on several occasions. Kept his feet moving through contact and created numerous scoring chances with his combination of speed and skill. Showed a good release, getting shots off quickly without overhandling the puck. His smaller frame was a disadvantage in some of the battles along the boards, where he struggled at times and took a few heavy hits. Despite that, he was a consistent offensive threat whenever he had room to build speed.

#7
Caleb Zhang

C · Toronto Nationals · 2027 Draft

Game grade C

Had a relatively quiet game offensively and struggled to generate much in what was a back-and-forth contest. His speed was still noticeable and posed a threat whenever he had room to get moving. Skated well and put together a responsible defensive effort, staying engaged on the other side of the puck. Didn't have his usual offensive impact in this one, but still found ways to contribute without the puck.

#3
Noah Popa

LW · Toronto Nationals · 2027 Draft

Game grade C

Big, strong forward who brought plenty of energy and intensity to this game. Played with an edge, throwing some heavy hits and getting under the opposition's skin with his physical play. Doesn't possess a high-end skill set, but understands his role and was effective when keeping his game simple and playing to his strengths. Was rewarded for going to the net, picking up a goal from in tight. A strong showing built around physicality, compete and a willingness to do the dirty work.
