Sep 28, 2026 to Oct 4, 2026 · North York, ON
The 18th annual Toronto Titans Early Bird Prospects Tournament marked the first major opportunity to get back into the rinks and take an extended look at the 2011-born talent eligible for the 2027 OHL Priority Selection. Featuring more than 50 U16 AAA teams from across Ontario and the United States, the tournament provided an early measuring stick for many of the province's top teams and draft-eligible prospects.
The Vaughan Kings picked up right where they left off after capturing the U15 OHF Championship last spring. Entering the season as Ontario's team to beat, the Kings made an immediate statement, running the table with a perfect 8-0 record and defeating the Hamilton Steel 3-1 in the championship game.
For Ontario Draft Watch, the tournament offered a valuable first look at the 2027 draft class, with plenty of high-end talent on display and several players making strong early impressions. Below, we highlight some of the tournament's standout performers and unveil our All-Tournament Team

Hebert entered the tournament as one of the most highly regarded prospects in the 2027 OHL Draft class and certainly lived up to the billing. Having spent last season playing a year up with the Toronto Marlboros U16 program, he was already a familiar name to scouts. He looked right at home back among his age group, displaying the offensive poise, puck skills and playmaking ability that have made him such an intriguing prospect. Hebert led all tournament scorers with 20 points in eight games, including the opening goal in the championship final, helping Vaughan complete a perfect 8-0 run. An impressive opening statement from a player who looks ready to take another significant step forward this season.
Toronto Marlboros
C · 7 GP · 7 G · 8 A · 15 PTS
The Challenger name was already familiar to scouts entering the tournament, with older brother Tyler currently playing for the OHL's Sarnia Sting. Jayden is quickly establishing a reputation of his own as one of the premier prospects in the 2027 draft class. A big, smooth-skating centreman with impressive speed, Challenger combines his skating ability with high-end offensive instincts and the ability to create opportunities in transition. He was a driving force for a talented Toronto Marlboros squad, recording seven goals and eight assists for 15 points in seven games before their semifinal exit. Already highly regarded entering the season, Challenger did little to quiet the excitement surrounding his potential with a strong showing at the Early Bird.
Halton Hurricanes
C · 5 GP · 7 G · 6 A · 13 PTS
Despite a disappointing Round of 16 exit at the hands of the Central Ontario Wolves, Ryo Han was nothing short of electric for a highly touted Halton Hurricanes squad. One of the more dynamic offensive talents in the 2027 draft class, Han combines explosive speed, exceptional puck skills and high-end creativity to consistently generate offence. Undersized but incredibly elusive, the former York-Simcoe Express standout has the ability to change the pace of a game in an instant, making him a handful for opposing defenders. Han finished with an impressive seven goals and six assists for 13 points in just five games, placing him among the tournament's leading scorers despite the early exit. A strong individual showing from a player who should remain firmly on scouts' radars throughout the season.
Hamilton Steel
LW · 8 GP · 5 G · 9 A · 14 PTS
Nolan Darch was a key offensive contributor for a Hamilton Steel squad that turned heads with an impressive run to the championship final. Coming off a tremendous U15 campaign in which he recorded 102 points in 69 games, Darch carried that offensive production into his draft year with five goals and nine assists for 14 points in eight tournament games. A crafty, intelligent forward with strong offensive instincts, Darch has a knack for finding open ice, distributing the puck and putting himself in positions to create scoring opportunities. While Hamilton ultimately fell short against Vaughan in the final, Darch finished sixth in tournament scoring and helped establish the Steel as a team to watch this season. A promising start for a prospect looking to build on an already impressive offensive résumé.
